Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique that is used by physical therapists to treat painful conditions that involve nerves, muscles, ligaments, tendons, or bone. A thin monofilament needle is inserted into the body into or near a painful structure in order to reduce pain, release muscular tightness, stimulate a healing process and improve blood flow around the injured structure. This technique is called dry needling, because there is no medication injected when the needle is inserted.
There are many painful conditions that have been shown through research to improve with dry needling treatment, including but not limited to knee osteoarthritis, neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, and Achilles tendonitis.
Dry needling for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, in particular, has been shown to significantly decrease pain and improve quality of life in individuals who may not qualify for surgery, may not want to have surgery, or are not ready to have surgery at this point in their life.
If you suffer from pain and feel like you have tried everything from massage to exercise without any results, give us a call and see if dry needling could be for you.
